The mission of the Essex National Heritage Commission (ENHC) is to preserve and promote the historic, cultural, and natural resources of Essex County, MA.

2009 Annual Report

What began 20 years ago as a concept to protect the authentic, nationally significant heritage resources in one of the country’s oldest settled regions has grown into a robust model of public/private partnership that extends throughout Essex County, preserving irreplaceable resources and improving the quality of life in the region. At the Essex National Heritage Commission, our programs and initiatives tell our story, from preservation grants to educational programs, trail development to cultural activities, ENHC always strives to preserve the past, promote the present, and enhance regional resources for our future.
