Essex National Heritage Area
Special Message to Explorers

Thank you!
Explorers having fun at Gloucester Maritime Heritage CenterFor eight years, Essex Heritage Explorers have experienced exceptional places and met fascinating people across the Area through Explorer activities that directly connect to  the Essex Heritage mission.

Your participation has demonstrated a deep commitment to the preservation and promotion of our regional heritage resources – so vital to our quality of life and as the Explorer Program transitions into a self-sustaining membership program, we hope you will deepen this commitment.

Trails & Sails event, Byfield Buried TreasureAdvancing the Essex Heritage Mission
With input from our supporters, Essex Heritage has examined how we can best advance our mission and support the region while offering a special  membership experience. As part of a broad plan to more effectively connect Essex Heritage and our constituents to our mission and the work of our partners, a multi-tiered Essex Heritage Membership will launch July 1, 2010.  The changes will enhance our ability to serve these resources AND allow more people the unique opportunity to support our work in distinct ways.

What will change?
Essex Heritage will offer multi-tiered membership levels to accommodate all degrees of interest and participation. While the summer 2010 Explorers Guide Newsletter will be the last, we will continue to offer unique fee-based member events starting in October. Hosting partner organizations will benefit from a portion of the proceeds. This format nurtures a membership program that is mission- aligned, supports our partners, and is self-sustaining. Take a moment to review new membership details.

What is staying the same?
Trails & Sails event, Byfield Buried TreasureThe new Essex Heritage membership program will mirror Explorers. You will continue to have the opportunity to explore the region through Trails & Sails weekends, unique ‘Best of Trails & Sails’ events throughout the year and Photo Safaris.
Members are encouraged to participate in valuable networking opportunities that will further connect you with our work. Our Semi-Annual Commission Meetings and other special events are mission driven opportunities to inform and recognize important efforts of organizations and individuals to preserve and promote our cultural heritage.
