Join us at Cogswell’s Grant, a 165-acre coastal farm along the banks of the Essex River, to photograph the pristine marshland, rolling hayfields, and beautiful views of the Essex River stretching to the sea. The landscape at Historic New England’s Cogswell’s Grant consists of acres of farmland with 1728 farmhouse and barn, hay fields, salt marsh, and river frontage. The views of the salt marsh, the Essex River, and beyond, are beautiful and, as one of the few protected stretches of open land along the Essex River, the historic landscape at Cogswell’s Grant also provides an important and diverse habitat for local and migrating wildlife.

Saturday, June 1, 2013 • 8 AM - 12 PM Photo Safari featuring Tamron at 82 Eastern Avenue, Essex MA 01929 (map it) REGISTER
Capture magnificent views of the Great Marsh, the Essex River, the back of Crane Beach, and Castle Hill and Choate Island from the Cox Reservation! The Cox Reservation consists of two parcels: a four-acre woodlot and the 26-acres of upland, salt marsh, farmland with house and barn, and river frontage. Its location on the Essex Bay estuary makes the Cox Reservation a rewarding place for natural history observation. Shorebirds feed on the mud flats at Clamhouse Landing, and herons, egrets and kingfishers take advantage of the abundant food source of the salt marsh. The old hayfields surrounding the house and barns are home to bobolinks, meadowlarks, and also support the activity of bluebird boxes and osprey platforms.
Please note: Tamron is a lens manufacturer. If you choose to join the Tamron Photo Safari, you must be able to bring your own camera. Lens mounts will be provided at the Safari.
Reservations required. Essex Heritage & Essex County Greenbelt Members $35; Non-Members $45. Become a member!
